A week into his trial, a Lawrence man pleaded guilty in court today to second-degree murder and other charges for opening fire in a Lawrence nightclub in 2010, killing two people, the Essex district attorney’s office said.
In September 2010, Johan Saint Clair, 32, entered the La Guira nightclub and killed Juan Estaban Suazo-Soto, 34, of Hyde Park. Essex prosecutors alleged that the shooting was an act of revenge against Suazo-Soto, who had robbed Saint Clair of cocaine.
Amarilis Roldan, 24, of Dorchester, an innocent bystander, was also killed and two other people were injured, District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office said.
Saint Clair also pleaded guilty to two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of illegal posession of a large-capacity firearm.
The sentences for the charges will be served concurrently with the life sentences given for the murders, prosecutors said.
Saint Clair will be eligible for parole in 19 years, prosecutors said.
