The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce announced today that Karen Kaplan has been chosen to serve as the new chair of the Chamber, only the second woman to hold that post in 103 years.

Kaplan is now the president of Hill Holliday, the Boston ad agency that she joined in 1982 as a receptionist.

Her two-year term as chamber chair is set to begin April 24.

The Greater Boston Chamber represents 1,500 businesses of all sizes from virtually every industry and profession in the region.
