Kronos buys OptiLink
Kronos Inc., a Chelmsford software company that helps businesses manage their workforces, said it has acquired the assets of OptiLink from the Advisory Board Co. in a deal that will let Kronos offer more services to its many health care customers.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Oregon-based OptiLink specializes in services that enable hospitals to perform such tasks as matching the staffing levels of their nurses to current patient demand. By precisely aligning staffing levels to actual patient needs, hospitals have a better chance of controlling their labor costs.
In a press release, Kronos said that the acquisition will allow it to offer a more comprehensive range of services to its many health care customers. Kronos has corporate customers in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, education, and financial services, but the health care segment is a particularly important customer group. More than 3,000 hospitals and 4,000 long-term care organizations currently use Kronos workforce management software, Kronos said.
With the acquisition of OptiLink, Kronos said it will be able to create a common platform that provides information on admissions, discharges, and transfers in hospitals so that managers have real-time data to make staffing adjustments.
