U.S. Cellular taps Mullen as ad agency of record
Mullen said today that it has been selected to be the advertising and digital agency-of-record for U.S. Cellular, a company that provides wireless services to nearly six million customers on its nationwide network.
Boston-based Mullen said it was chosen after U.S. Cellular conducted an ad agency review. A Mullen press release did not disclose billings.
But a story in the trade publication Ad Age cited data from Kantar Media that said that Chicago-based U.S. Cellular spent $74.5 million on marketing in the United States from January through October of last year. The company spent $98.3 million in 2010.
The U.S. Cellular assignment is for strategy and creative work for both traditional and digital advertising, said Mullen, which added that the selection of a new ad agency is part of an organizational initiative at U.S. Cellular to energize the brand and grow its customer base.
Mullen clients include JetBlue Airways, Google Inc., and the Nook e-reader from Barnes & Noble.
