Brrrrr! Temps expected to drop below freezing in some areas of Mass.
Better take out that flannel blanket.
The National Weather Service has issued freeze warnings and frost advisories for several aras of the state.
A freeze warning has been issued for areas in Berkshire County effective from midnight tonight until 10 a.m. Thursday. A freeze warning was also issued for areas in Franklin and Hampshire counties between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Thursday.
It’s the first freeze of the season, the weather service said, brought to you courtesy of cold Canadian high pressure, which will drop areas in the interior into the lower 30s. The low temperatures will kill vegetation and bring an end to the growing season, the forecasters said.
Frost warnings were also issued for areas in Hampden, Middlesex, and Worcester counties from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday.
Temperatures will be warmer along the coast, with Boston only expected to drop to the mid-40s.
It will be dry and unseasonably cool on Thursday and Friday, with another cold night on Thursday. A warmup is expected as the weekend begins with temperatures expected to be in the 70s during the day and the 50s at night, the forecasters say.
