Douglas couple arraigned on charges of growing marijuana in garage
Two Douglas residents have been arraigned on charges of growing marijuana in their home, police said today.
Anthony Toloczko, 62, and his wife, Deborah, 57, face several charges related to growing marijuana, Douglas police said in a statement. Anthony Toloczko also faces charges of improperly storing firearms and possession of explosive devices. They were arraigned in Uxbridge District Court on Friday.
Anthony Toloczko was ordered held on $500,000 cash bail, and Deborah Toloczko was ordered held on $250,000, police said. The couple was on vacation in Las Vegas when their home was searched by police. They were arrested upon their arrival in Logan International Airport on Thursday, Dec. 8.
Officers entered the couple’s residence at 36 Glenn St. on Monday, Dec. 5, and found about 120 two- to three-foot tall marijuana plants in a detached garage, according to police. The plants were being grown using heat lamps, a water filtration system, timers, climate control, and ventilation, according to police.
Officers found about 50 pounds of already packaged marijuana, unsecured high power firearms, and chemicals and resources used to make explosive devices throughout the residence, the statement said.
The State Police Fire and Explosives Unit detonated three improvised explosive devices on the property, and police confiscated numerous firearms, approximately $75,000 in cash, and two vehicles, police said.
As a result of information obtained during the search, police also searched the home of Bryan Burnett, 49, and Wendy Burnett, 46, of 71 Yew St. At the home, officers said they found about one pound of marijuana packaged for sale, prescription medication, cash, and a stun gun.
An arrest warrant was issued for each on charges related to drug possession, police said.
Officers have also issued a warrant for Jennifer Toloczko, 31, of Worcester. Jennifer, the Toloczkos’ daughter, also faces charges of cultivating marijuana and conspiracy to violate the drug laws, police said.
Douglas police were assisted by the Blackstone Valley Drug Task Force, and the State Police. The incident remains under investigation.
