Police arrest Winthrop man on charges of breaking into 79 lockers in Revere storage facility
A 40-year-old Winthrop man was arrested by Revere police Tuesday night and charged with breaking into dozens of storage lockers during a crime spree from November 2011 into January of this year, the Suffolk district attorney’s office said.
Daniel Stimpson was charged with eight counts of breaking and entering, eight counts of trespassing, and eight counts of larceny over $250, the DA’s office said in a statement.
Stimpson was identified as the alleged thief after Revere police posted a surveillance camera image of the suspect as he entered the storage company on Revere Beach Parkway. According to police, Stimpson broke into 79 individual lockers.
Police said the suspect collected consumer electronics, tools, and other items worth thousands of dollars from storage lockers and then rolled them out to his vehicle before driving off. The district attorney’s office said Stimpson told detectives he used a screwdriver to open padlocks and tried to sell the stolen items on Craigslist.
