Sunny days and temperatures near the 60s are expected this week

Though it’s been a warm winter, tomorrow temperatures in Boston could come close to 60 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Today will be mostly sunny with some clouds moving in this afternoon. Highs will be in the mid- to upper 40s across the state.

Rain moving in to Massachusetts tonight from the west and though it is expected to be mostly cleared up by the morning, there may be some fog in the Boston area and in the southern parts of the state clearing up by late morning. The showers are forecasted to return Wednesday night and linger on and off until early Saturday, said meteorologist Bill Simpson.

Tomorrow will be a very warm with highs in the 50s across the state, Simpson said, and in Boston the mercury could hit about 58 degrees.

Though 60 degrees seems groundbreaking, January 7 was the last time it was 58 degrees in Boston. The record for today, set in 1997, is 66 degrees but the normal temperature is 41 degrees, said Simpson.

Thursday and Friday temperatures will dip, but only a few degrees. Most of the state will remain in the 50s but some regions in western Massachusetts may drop to the upper 40s.

On the bright side though, Simpson said New England is forecasted to have partly sunny skies this weekend with highs in the 40s.
