Two people were shot on Norton Street in Dorchester this morning, and one suffered life-threatening injuries, police said today.

Both victims were taken to Boston Medical Center. No arrests have been made, according to the Boston police department, and no further information was immediately available.

The area where the shooting took place, in the Bowdoin Street and Columbia Road corridor, saw several killings last year. Over last Fourth of July weekend, Victor Gomes, 34, was shot on Norton Street during a cookout. And in a four-month stretch leading up to that killing, five other homicides occured within a 2-mile radius.
