Every year around Valentine’s Day, celebrated baker Joanne Chang produces a line of naughty sweetheart cookies — confections with messages that are NC-17, to say the least. And for as long as she’s been on Twitter – about three years now — Chang has tweeted an image of the coarse cookies. We were still taken aback the other day when she tweeted a pic of the latest bawdy batch. “Warning: Xrated. Make that XXXrated,” wrote the owner of the flour franchises. And she wasn’t kidding. These biscuits would make Mrs. Fields blush. “Usually, 99 percent of people like it and 1 percent get upset,” Chang told us. “Somebody wrote me back and said, ‘Disgusting.’” Just to be clear, the cookies are kept behind the counter, out of the view of customers. And who’s responsible for the raunchy messages on the cookies? “The bakers used to see who could be the naughtiest, trying to outdo each other,” Chang said. “Some of them were so naughty I didn’t even know what they meant.” If you’re in the mood, the cookies are available through Valentine’s Day.
