Legendary Boston jazz singer Mae Arnette was the guest of honor at a members-and-friends bash at Ryles Jazz Club this week. The singer’s 50 years in the jazz community were celebrated in front of VIP guests such as Scullers entertainment director Fred Taylor, Community Development Corporation of Boston president Marvin E. Gilmore, Boston Ballet Director of Education and Community Initiatives Zakiya Thomas, trumpeter Tiger Okoshi, and WGBH Radio host Steve Schwartz. JazzBoston’s Pauline Bilsky said that the room was packed for “Boston’s First Lady of Song.” She emailed us saying, “I stopped counting at 150!”
