You can bid on a date with Heidi Watney

Former NESN Red Sox reporter Heidi Watney is single. She told us so. Which means that when Project Cupid auctions off a date with her Saturday night as part of a benefit for the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, that date will have real potential. Watney, who called us today to promote Project Cupid’s Third Annual Charity Date Auction at the Estate, laughed when we asked her whether she’d consider a second date with the auction winner if the first outing goes well. “That is a possibility,” she said, coyly. “You never know where you’re going to meet your Prince Charming.” (Watney added that she has fairy tales on the brain because she’s been spending time with her nieces, who are into princesses culture.) Watney — who recently left NECN to cover the Lakers for Time Warner — told us that whoever wins an outing with her will get a lot for their money. Watney’s pal Linda Pizzuti Henry has arranged for Watney to take the auction winner to Red Sox game this season — with seats behind home plate. Saturday’s auction starts at 6:30 p.m.
