Put on your best suit and tie and grab a cocktail, “Mad Men” fans, as the final season of AMC’s award-winning drama premieres on Sunday.
As if this month couldn’t get any sweeter, baseball is back in town as the Red Sox look to go on another World Series championship run.
Between the Sox’ return, the Patriots’ recent deals, and of course our other beloved sports teams always being on our minds, here’s a look at who’s who in the cast of potential “Mad Men” characters we have right here in Boston. Next
Don Draper - Tom Brady
Whether it’s making the perfect pitch to a client or finding the right reciever in the end zone, Don Draper and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady always seem to come up big for their teams. Both men are highly skilled at what they do and know how to call the shots, even in the most pressure-filled situations.
Outside of work, Draper and Brady have had tumultuous relationships with women in the past, but for now at least, they seem content living the married life with their beautiful wives and kids. Next
Megan Draper - Gisele Bündchen
Beautiful, talented, and married to men who are highly successful in their fields, that hasn’t stopped Megan and Gisele from pursuing their own career endeavors.
While Megan might feel stuck in the house wife role due to her struggles breaking through as an actress, Gisele has already accomplished so much as a model and doesn’t seem to be slowing down even as she balances work with being there for her kids. Next
Roger Sterling - Robert Kraft
As the wealthy financial backers of their respective organizations, Roger Sterling and Patriots owner Robert Kraft have experienced a ton of success over their many years of wheeling and dealing.
While they may be getting up there in age, both men aren’t afraid to pursue women half their age. Let’s just hope Kraft and girlfriend Ricki Lander’s relationship lasts longer than Sterling’s last marriage... Next
Joan Harris - Jenny Dell
There are few people who know the inner workings of Sterling Cooper and Partners (SC&P) quite like director of agency operations turned junior partner Joan Harris. Likewise, we imagine former NESN’s Red Sox sideline reporter Jenny Dell must know the day-to-day operations of the team she covers better than most people in the business. Not to mention, both women have had relationships with people they work with as well.
But with their beauty and brains, I’m sure Joan and Jenny will have fine careers in their fields. Next
Peter Campbell - Rob Gronkowski
As the young hot shots of their organizations, Peter Campbell and Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski have come up big on numerous occasions for their teams, despite their sometimes childish behavior. Both men love to go out and have a good time, and based on this picture, it seems like they share an affinity for outlandish party outfits as well.
However, Gronk seems a bit more affable in nature than the often mischievous SC&P partner. Next
Bert Cooper - Jeremy Jacobs
As one of the founders of the original Sterling Cooper ad agency, Bert Cooper has seen it all throughout the years, in both his personal and working life. A shrewd businessman, Bert will sometimes compromise his morals and good-nature for the betterment of his company.
Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs is pretty shrewd himself, drawing the ire of the NHL Players’ Association for his comments about and role in the recent lockout. While some may see him as a bully, like Cooper, he’s just doing what he thinks is best for his team and the league. Next
Peggy Olson - Kelli Pedroia
While these two women lead drastically different lifestyles, both SC&P Copy Chief Peggy Olson and Kelli Pedroia, wife of Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, had to work extremely hard to get to where they are now.
Peggy, who started out as a secretary, scratched and clawed her way up the agency’s ladder, constantly battling stereotypes and misogyny as she climbed toward the top.
Kelli has had to fight her own battles over the years, having been diagnosed with melanoma when she was just 18. Not letting that get her down, Kelli now fights on behalf of the Melanoma Foundation of New England in order to raise awareness of the issue among teens. Next
Harry Crane - Peter Chiarelli
Based on looks alone, this doppleganger duo should need little introduction. Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli ikes to rock the bowtie and glasses look. All he needs is a slicked back toupee and he could pass as a perfect Harry Crane. Next
Ken Cosgrove - Rajon Rondo
Forgoing the glory of being a leading scorer in order to become an assist machine, Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is known for being a team player. Even when he injured ACL, Rondoas still there for his team, even if he has to cheer from the sidelines.
Like the decorated guard, Ken Cosgrove is an integral part of the agency who constantly seeks out new business, even though he has no aspirations of becoming a glorified partner. Next
Betty Francis - Heidi Watney
When Red Sox sideline reporter Heidi Watney left NESN to join the Lakers TV Network before moving on to the nationally broadcasted MLB Network, she broke Boston fans’ hearts the way Betty broke Don’s heart. However, Heidi’s departure from the Hub was a lot more amicable than Betty’s break-up with her now ex-husband.
Interestingly, both women also share some modeling experience as Heidi was a runner-up in the 2002 Miss California pageant while Betty modeled in Italy and New York before meeting Don. Next
Freddy Rumsen - Bobby Valentine
Vanguards of the old-school mentality, Freddy Rumsen and former Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine just aren’t suited for the times.
Both men left their respective organizations in a bit of controversy with chips on their shoulders, however, Rumsen’s downfall can be attributed to his excessive drinking while the poor performance by Valentine’s squad is what got him in trouble. Hopefully Valentine can make a career rebound like Rumsen, although I highly doubt it will be in Boston. Next
Stan Rizzo - Dustin Pedroia
As hard-working, integral members of their teams, art director Stan Rizzo and Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia have more in common than just their mangy beards.
Pedroia has shown a willingness to play through injuries and has been a huge producer for the team. Like the baseball star, Rizzo’s art is also a huge part of SC&P’s success and he always does his job, albeit begrudgingly when Don forces the creative team to rework ideas over and over again.
