About this blog
Scott Kearnan (@thewritestuffSK) is a Boston-based writer, editor, and communications consultant focusing on lifestyle and Arts & Entertainment. He's also a part-time smart aleck and buffalo wing connoisseur. "Media Remix" is where couch potatoes meet pop culture criticism. What does Honey Boo Boo say about class issues in America? Is "The Real Housewives" anti-feminist? Does Lady Gaga empower gay fans, or patronize them? If you love knowing about the latest in movies, TV, music and social media - and analyzing the politics of "The Apprentice" - grab a seat with "Media Remix."
Kearnan work has appeared in a diverse array of publications, from regional magazines like The Phoenix and Boston Spirit to national outlets like Entrepreneur and OK! Magazine. And he has interviewed entertainment legends old and new: from Donna Summer to Lady Gaga, Steven Tyler to Wyclef Jean. Scott is the former editorial director of STUFF magazine, which was one of Boston's most prominent fashion, dining, and nightlife publications; while there, he produced curious cover shoots that once involved fitting a circus contortionist inside a suitcase. (Don't ask.) Before that, Scott was the arts editor at Bay Windows, New England's largest LGBT-focused newspaper, where he continues to write a bi-weekly column ("Between X & Y") about thirty-something life. Scott studied Sociology and Communications at Boston College, and was the first male to graduate from the school with a minor in Women's Studies. (He doesn't know why you're snickering.) When he's not working, you can usually find him listening to deep house music, sweating all over his yoga mat, or vainly attempting to maintain "cool Uncle" credibility with his four fantastic nephews.
