A South End nightlife venue becomes a literary hot spot tonight when Joseph Olshan and Maureen Freely read from their recent works at the Red Fez. Olshan's book, "The Conversation," is about an American translator in Europe who must deal with the scandalous death of a former lover. Freely's book, "Enlightenment," is about a reporter who looks into the disappearanceof an American woman in Turkey. Both books are about Americans living abroad, which is why the night is being called "Lost in Translation." There will be Q&As with both writers - and free appetizers. 7 p.m. Free. The Red Fez, 1222 Washington St. 617-338-6060. theredfez.com
