In the years between Captain Kirk's histrionics and Denny Crane's buffoonery, William Shatner lent his name to a series of science-fiction novels centered on Tek, an addictive, mind-altering drug. The TekWar novels were turned into several films and into the 1994-1996 TV series starring Greg Evigan and, of course, the Big Head himself. The TV shows (although not the movies) have been collected into this three-DVD set.

The sweet-voiced singer-songwriter releases her first CD of sparsely produced, quiet ruminations and observations, rendered in her little-girl wise voice. Ahn's plaintive songs have been featured on "Grey's Anatomy" and she has honed her skills touring with singer-songwriter Joshua Radin.

Better to create your own fedora-clad saga with the LEGO version of Indy's adventures. The LEGO crocodile beats any trumped-up special effects.

Andre Dubus III (W. W. Norton)
Another tense psychological and sociological narrative from the Massachusetts-based author of "House of Sand and Fog." Dubus's new novel revolves around a Florida stripper who is forced to bring her daughter to work one day and the misguided men who come to this house of flesh, loaded with anger and yearning for love.
