The Four Stories literary series aims to bring readings out of the often staid environment of bookstores and into the hip, nightlife-y environment of clubs. Tonight at the Enormous Room, the series kicks off with "Candy Freak" and "Not That You Asked" author Steve Almond, poet and critic Ethan Gilsdorf, New York Times travel writer Matt Gross, and memoirist Felicia Sullivan, who will be addressing the theme "Friends and Strangers: Stories of the People We Meet." A DJ starts the music at 6 p.m., readings start at 7. Free. The Enormous Room, 569 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square, Cambridge. 617-491-5550. www.fourstories.org [N. Z.]
