In addition to lovely foliage and quaint towns, New England has lots of crime, at least according to four mystery authors. Mysteries of the Northeast is the subject of tonight’s Fall Author Talk Series at the Boston Public Library, where Mark Arsenault (“Loot the Moon’’), Daniel Judson (“The Violet Hour’’), Archer Mayor (“The Price of Malice’’), and Norb Vonnegut (“Top Producer’’) will talk about their books, sign copies, and participate in a Q&A. 6 p.m. Free. Boston Public Library, 700 Boylston St., Boston. 617-536-5400. www.bpl.org
