A teacher and politician whose reading inspired her to serve
In 2008, former social-studies teacher Sonia Chang-Díaz became the first Latina to serve in the Massachusetts Senate, representing a diverse Boston district that includes the Back Bay, Chinatown, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, and the South End.
