New Yorker staff writer and nonfiction author Susan Orlean ("The Orchid Thief") continues to live and work quietly in her Boston loft, caring for her 21-month-old while laboring over her upcoming book on the wonder dog Rin Tin Tin. In the process, she said during a series of readings at the Pinehills in Plymouth Saturday, she's enjoyed watching the city's funky southern waterfront morph into a neighborhood at warp speed -- which itself must be a tempting subject for Orlean, whose specialty is making the mundane meaningful.
