Before Jimmy Carter speaks at Brandeis next Tuesday, the 23rd, he will be over at the Harvard Coop signing books from 1:30 to 3:30. The Brandeis speaking engagement has engendered a lot of controversy -- the first time he was invited to the school, he was expected to debate Alan Dershowitz and he declined.

As might be expected for a book signing with a former president whose views on Israel are controversial, there are a lot of rules -- and they are subject to change, based on the needs of the Secret Service or Carter himself.

For example:
No cameras, no cellphones, purses, backpacks, diaper bags. (There will be a bag check area.)

Books must be purchased before getting in line and the line will begin forming at 11 a.m. If you have already bought his new book, "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid,'' you must bring the receipt.

Carter will only sign his new book and there will be no personalized autographs.
