Tillie Olsen, whose small body of work earned a large amount of critical acclaim, died this week at 94. Her best-known books are "Tell Me a Riddle'' and "Silences,'' a memoir of her struggles to earn a living and be a writer.

Just a couple months ago Scott Turow sung the praises of "Tell Me a Riddle'' on the NPR feature, "You Must Read This.''
