Revenge of the Book Eaters

Sounds like fun. Organizers of 826 Boston, a youth writing center opening in Roxbury this fall, are hosting a benefit called Revenge of the Book Eaters on Sept. 26 at the Berklee Performance Center.

The writing centers, now in a handful of cities across the country, were founded by Dave Eggers, a writer and founder of McSweeney's publishing house. In addition to Eggers and others, indie rockers Mates of State, comedian Eugene Mirman, and Davy Rothbart, creator of Found magazine, will offer a mix of storytelling and music.

Revenge of the Book Eaters, named after a story by an 826 student, asks the question that can't be answered --- which is better, words or music?

Tickets are $25-$150. They go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, through the Berklee Performance Center and Ticketmaster.
