Two books are rushing back to press in the aftermath of the liberation of Ingrid Betancourt (shown in green at right with her mother July 2), the former Colombian presidential candidate recently rescued, after six years of captivity by a Colombian guerrilla group, in a daring raid by Colombian armed forces.

Abrams Image earlier this year published a short book by Betancourt, entitled, "Letters to My Mother: A Message of Love, a Plea for Freedom," and Ecco Press, a division of HarperCollins, in 2002 published "Until Death Do Us Part: My Struggle to Reclaim Colombia." Abrams is said to be reprinting the former right away, while Ecco in October will bring out a paperback edition of the latter.

Meanwhile, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt announced it has signed a deal with sportswriter L. John Wertheim for a book about the recent epic battle between Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal , which Nadal won, for the Wimbledon men's tennis title. The five-hour match is believed by some to be the greatest in history. "Strokes of Genius" is due out next year.
