Pynchon redux
An electric current is passing through the Pynchonian faithful as word is out that the master (Thomas Pynchon, that is) has a new novel coming out from Penguin Books. Los Angeles Times blogger Carolyn Kellogg reports on the talk.
The novel is said to be roughly 400 pages, noirish, and set in the 1960s. It's said to be coming out sometime next year.
Pynchon's earlier books, "Gravity's Rainbow," "V," and "The Crying of Lot 49," have a huge cult following. Later books have been less successful, in sales at least, but anything by the reclusive writer creates excitement.
