We forgot to wish Jerome David (J.D.) Salinger best wishes on becoming a nonagenarian yesterday, Jan. 1. He and Augustus St. Gaudens are probably the two most famous artists of Cornish, N.H.

Unless he personally burns all his manuscripts, someday Salinger's collected unpublished works will probably see the light of day. That will be a volume worth waiting for.
