How shall I compare thee to a summer's day? If you're not Shakespeare you're probably better off not trying. Writing sonnets is not for the faint of heart. Reading and listening, however, is a different matter. On Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Longfellow National Historic Site in Cambridge, Stephen Burt and David Mikics will read from their collection of 100 sonnets, "The Art of the Sonnet.'' The pair will be joined by poet Forrest Gander.
And now for the rest of the list, read on.

WEDNESDAY: Lawrence Douglas reads from “The Vices,” at 7 p.m., at Brookline Booksmith.
