LOS ANGELES (AP) — A man convicted of trespassing at Miley Cyrus’ Los Angeles home has been sentenced to a year and a half in jail.

Superior Court Judge Dennis Mulcahy sentenced Jason Luis Rivera to the jail term Friday. A jury convicted Rivera of misdemeanor trespassing and resisting arrest one day earlier.

The 40-year-old has been jailed since his arrest on Sept. 8. Authorities say he was caught at Cyrus’ home carrying a pair of scissors.

Police say Rivera told officers he was a friend of the singer-actress and he repeatedly threw himself against an outside wall as if trying to break in.

Cyrus was not home during the incident.end of story marker
