A brighter look from Kerry; a flashier look from Brady

TELLING THE TOOTH Despite a temporary loss of wrinkles, Senator John Kerry denied claims earlier this year that he underwent Botox treatments. But there's no denying the aftereffects of a piece of cosmetic work he had done yesterday. The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee emerged from a morning of seclusion in Washington with two new pearly-white-capped teeth at a airport rally in Atlantic City. The noticeably improved smile is not only bright, it corrects the angled teeth and one prior miscolored cap. Ever coy, Kerry aides said he had the crown replaced on his right front tooth (previously lost in a hockey injury) and a new crown placed on the lesser tooth beside it (the focus of a recent root-canal procedure). Other than that, the aides insist he had his teeth cleaned but not whitened. Still, the high-wattage smile was apparent as Kerry headed off by helicopter for a fund-raiser at the home of rock star Jon Bon Jovi, himself the veteran of a canine cap job.

PUNK'D AND READY TO ROLL Jam'n 94.5's annual Summer Jam was the hot ticket Sunday, judging from the hip crowd and cool stars at the Tweeter Center. Kanye West was hangin' in the press tent when he looked at his watch and realized it was time to watch himself be "Punk'd." (He was filmed for an episode of the MTV show last fall, but when he saw it Sunday he was none too pleased, we're told.) . . . Reggae star Beenie Man, craving some authentic island cuisine, asked his Dav El limo driver to pick some up. Unfortunately, Irey in Dorchester was closed, so the driver suggested Taste of Eden. Beenie Man was back 30 minutes later, just in time to perform. Then there's J-Kwon, who landed at Logan without his luggage. So on the way to Mansfield, the rapper stopped at Copley Place to pick up some duds . . . Nelly kept a low profile, hanging with galpal Ashanti. That other celebrity couple, "Survivor: All-Stars" Boston Rob and Amber, also stopped by.

BLING RING The tattoo on her left ankle, we saw. But an engagement ring? Quoting unidentified "spies," the New York Post reported yesterday that Tom Brady and Bridget Moynahan are getting hitched. (After six months of dating the Pats QB, the actress is said to be "totally smitten.") But as the cute couple emerged from Bob Kraft's house Sunday, the only gaudy jewelry we noticed was his. The team's new Super Bowl rings, weighing in at 3.8 ounces and 5 carats, are the largest ever. Meanwhile, Brady has signed up to promote satellite radio network Sirius. In a statement yesterday, No. 12 said, "I only choose to endorse quality brands I believe in and that fit my lifestyle. Sirius is one of these brands."

COMING ATTRACTION It won't be the celebrity-heavy event the Los Angeles premiere was, but tonight's screening of "Around the World in 80 Days" at Loews Boston Common will be for a good cause. Items being auctioned to benefit the Frederick Douglass Charter School in Roslindale include the cane and suitcase used by actor Steve Coogan in the film. "We have Jackie Chan's sword, too, but we can't auction that because it's a weapon," explained Michael Flaherty, whose Boston-based Walden Media produced the latest take on Jules Verne's classic novel.

SAVED! BY THE FESTIVAL Actress Heather Matarazzo has been added to the Provincetown International Film Festival's opening night lineup for the screening of "Saved!" On Wednesday, Matarazzo, who is part of the cast, will join "Saved!" director Brian Dannelly and producer Sandy Stern (who also produced "Being John Malkovich") at Provincetown Town Hall for the movie. On Friday, the festival will honor director/writer Jim Jarmusch, whose "Coffee and Cigarettes," is getting good reviews, with itsFilmmaker on the Edge award.

NO JOKE Fans of chauvinistic humor will have to find an alternative to "The Man Show." That's because Worcester's Doug Stanhope, who co-hosts the show with Newton native Joe Rogan, revealed this weekend that the program has been canceled. (Comedy Central had no comment yesterday.) For the record, Stanhope didn't sound too disappointed. "Native Americans say that a camera takes away your soul," he said during his show at the Comedy Connection. "I never understood that until I did 'The Man Show.' Now I'm like, 'Oh, that's how that works. Can I have my soul back now?' "

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK He's governor to you, but to li'l Mia, Mitt Romney's grandpa. Born Thursday to Mitt's second son, Matt, 6-pound, 13-ounce Mia Romney is the governor's seventh grandchild . . . And Jam'n 94.5's night-time jock Gee Spin, is the proud papa of newly arrived Isabella Blu.
