Crown Princess Masako -- known as Masako Owada when she graduated from Belmont High School and, later, Harvard -- is suffering from a psychological disorder caused by the stress of adapting to royal life, according to Japan's Imperial Household agency. The princess has been unable to carry out her official duties for eight months, and it appears she'll remain out of the public eye for some time. In 2001, the princess and her husband, Crown Prince Naruhito, celebrated the birth of a daughter. However, since only males can ascend to Japan's throne, the princess is under intense pressure to produce a male heir. A hard-charging diplomat when she married into the monarchy a decade ago, Princess Masako has slowly faded from view.
California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, must be feeling flush after selling off three parcels in their posh Pacific Palisades property. They sold one -- a 1-acre spread with a pool and a tennis court -- to Matthew Maxwell Taylor Kennedy, Shriver's nephew and a son of Robert F. Kennedy, for $3.4 million.
