Comedian Larry David is in the weeds with the Chilmark conservation commission, which has ordered the ''Curb Your Enthusiam" cutup to redo -- or, in some cases, remove -- work done at his Martha's Vineyard manor. David is accused of constructing a stage, a stone fire pit, and a 26-foot barbecue area without town approval. The irony is that David and his wife, Laurie, are environmentalists who recently led a ''virtual march" against global warming. ''I don't know the Davids from a hole in the ground," said resident Bob Zeltzer, who'd complained about the Hollywood couple's hasty home improvements. ''I don't care who they are; I'm just opposed to abuse of process." The Davids have apologized, maintaining they didn't know the work was done without proper permits. (We couldn't reach their current island rep, Bret Stearns, but Michael Halbreich, the Davids' former project manager, told us yesterday the couple did indeed know they lacked the necessary permits.) The conservation commission accepted the Davids' apology, but still demanded they remove the barbecue area and the elevated wooden stage, and move the fire pit farther from sensitive wetlands.
Izzo, Pats huddle up for troops
Who knew Larry Izzo was a song-and-dance man? Doing karaoke at last night's salute to the troops at Avalon, the Pats special teams star sounded enthusiastic singing the Doors' ''Hello, I Love You." Izzo, whose late father was a West Point grad, organized the celeb-heavy event after visiting US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan in March. Others who'd signed up for last night's singalong for the troops and their families included Pats players Tom Brady, Troy Brown, Matt Light, Lonie Paxton, Dan Koppen, Russ Hochstein, Christian Fauria, Monty Biesel, Tim Dwight, Josh Miller, Matt Chatham, David Givens, super agent Drew Rosenhaus, Dallas Mavs owner Mark Cuban, and TV newsman Chet Curtis. . . . Bye weeks are busy, too, if you're Tom Brady. With the weekend free, No. 12 headed west, hitting Sin City for some R & R. According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, our boy Brady had a steak dinner Friday with tennis great Andre Agassi at Fix in the Bellagio, and was back at it Saturday, turning heads at N9NE, a trendy steakhouse at The Palms. . . . After the Celts' game at Mohegan Sun the other night, team brass and a few ballplayers joined nightclub king Patrick Lyons at Ultra 88, his club at the casino. Paul Pierce, Mark Blount, Ricky Davis, and CEO Wyc Grousbeck all made the scene.Heres looking at you, Kidd

Knopf, Kidd's done dust jackets for writers ranging from Michael Crichton to Larry McMurty and Mona Simpson to Art Spiegelman.Santa makes stop at Symphony Hall
Two familiar faces greeted folks who queued up for their Holiday Pops tix yesterday. Conductor Keith Lockhart and Santa Claus were glad-handing Pops patrons outside Symphony Hall. This year's Pops holiday series includes a total of 39 pre- and post-Christmas concerts. . . . Karen Holmes Ward was in the Big Apple over the weekend to pick up a plaque for WCVB-TV, which was nominated for a 2004 Community Service Emmy Award -- given to local stations for public-service campaigns. WCVB won for CommonWealth5, which matched public donations with local charities in need. . . . Don't think Ken Casey and his band of Irish brothers the Dropkick Murphys are happy that hockey has returned to Boston? The Dropkicks will rock the TD Banknorth Gahden after the Bruins' game Nov. 3, and their pal, former Bruins brawler Lyndon Byers, will MC. . . .
