Samuel's snake scare

(BANG) - Samuel L. Jackson was scared for his safety while filming new movie 'Snakes on a Plane' because he didn't trust the animal handler.

The actor stars in one of this summer's most hotly anticipated movies in which an assassin intent on killing a passenger lets loose a crate full of serpents in mid-air.

Jackson claims he was wary of his slithery co-stars because they have a mind of their own.

He told the Seattle Times newspaper: "The guy we had on set is a snake handler. He's a snake wrangler. There's no such thing as a snake trainer. You can't teach a snake to roll over and sit up. They just don't take orders. Who trusts that?"

Jackson admits he got an easy ride compared to some of his co-stars while shooting the film because his character, Nelville Flynn, rarely comes into contact with the murderous snakes.

He added: "Fortunately for me, when things start happening, when the snakes show up on the plane, I'm upstairs. When I come down, the snakes are in one part of the plane and I herd people out and block that part of the plane off, so I very seldom come in contact with them. My agent didn't let them put live snakes close to me."
