Eva Green's star rises

(BANG) - Bond girl Eva Green has been nominated for The Orange Rising Star Award at this year's BAFTAs.

The 26-year-old French actress is up for the accolade - which honours emerging young acting talent and is hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) - for her performance as alluring double agent Vesper Lynd in 'Casino Royal'.

Green is up against four other international actors who have also "demonstrated exceptional talent and have begun to capture the imagination of the public as a star in the making".

The other nominees are 'Perfume: The Story of a Murderer' star Ben Whishaw, Emily Blunt, who appeared in 'The Devil Wears Prada', Cillian Murphy, who starred in 'The Wind That Shakes the Barley' and 'Batman Begins' and 'Miami Vice' actress Naomie Harris.

The shortlist was picked by a jury of movie industry figures including 'Crash' actress Thandie Newton, Anthony Minghella and last year's rising star winner James McAvoy.

The winner will be decided by the British public and announced at The Orange British Academy Film Awards on February 11.

David Parfitt, Chairman of the BAFTA Film Committee, said: "As the only audience award, it certainly raises the profile of young actors and actresses within our industry.

"Promoting and supporting the next generation of talent is essential and this is why it's important to have prizes in place such as The Orange Rising Star Award."
