Birkhead says he won't share custody
Larry Birkhead said yesterday he doesn't plan to share legal custody of Anna Nicole Smith's baby, a day after a court announced that DNA tests proved he is the father. Birkhead, accompanied by his relatives, visited Dannielynn several hours after Tuesday's announcement of the DNA test results, "Entertainment Tonight" reported. The former boyfriend changed his daughter's diaper and fed her apple sauce with some coaching from Smith's lawyer-turned-partner Howard K. Stern, the program reported. A hearing is scheduled for tomorrow during which a judge is expected to discuss who will raise 7-month-old Dannielynn. Stern, who has been caring for the baby since Smith's death in February, said he wouldn't fight for custody, but a lawyer for Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, indicated she might. Birkhead said yesterday he did not want another legal battle. " I'm hoping that's not the case because, you know, there's only one dad, and I have no problem with anyone that has good intentions being allowed to visit the baby and see the baby and be a part of the baby's life," he told NBC's "Today" show. . . . Meanwhile, Daily Variety reported that singer Willa Ford will play Anna Nicole Smith in an independent movie that begins shooting next week. Ford, 26, is best known for her hit single "I Wanna Be Bad." (AP)

Snoop Dogg gets five years' probation

He faced charges of gun possession by a felon and sale or transportation of marijuana. Snoop Dogg's recent arrests marked the end of a trouble-free stretch for the rapper. He has burnished his image in recent years with appearances in mainstream movies and by starting a youth football league. He was arrested in Burbank, Calif., Oct. 26 on suspicion of transporting marijuana. Police later found a gun at his home. Snoop Dogg also faces separate charges stemming from a Sept. 27 incident at John Wayne Airport in Orange County. (AP)

Burns's 'The War' will add Latino focus
PBS promised yesterday to amend Ken Burns's upcoming documentary series on World War II to include stories about Latino veterans after activists complained he ignored their contributions to the American effort. Burns has also agreed to hire a Latino producer to help create the additional content, PBS said. The 14-hour documentary, "The War," is scheduled to premiere in September. PBS hopes it becomes as popular as Burns' s "The Civil War" was a decade ago, and plans to sell a companion book and DVDs. (AP)
