A police log of weekend calls confirmed yesterday that officers were called to Owen Wilson's home because of an attempted suicide report. The log doesn't indicate who made the call Sunday but lists "attempt suicide" as the reason for it. Wilson was in good condition Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, but hospital officials said yesterday they weren't releasing updated information. The actor's publicist, Ina Treciokas, declined to answer questions about whether Wilson, 38, attempted to commit suicide. Wilson has two movies in production and two more upcoming releases to help promote. DreamWorks Pictures said that filming continues on the comedy "Tropic Thunder" but offered no details on whether Wilson's role would be recast. It was also unknown whether Wilson's hospitalization would affect his appearance opposite Jennifer Aniston in the 20th Century Fox comedy "Marley & Me." (AP)
Winehouse boycott?
Amy Winehouse's father-in-law says fans should stop buying her records to force the singer to seek help for what he called a drug addiction. Giles Fielder-Civil said he believes Winehouse and his son, Blake Fielder-Civil, had used cocaine, crack cocaine, and heroin. "I think they believe they are recreational users of drugs and they are in control," Fielder-Civil told British Broadcasting Corp. radio yesterday. "Clearly they are addicts." He said fans should send a message "that her addiction and her behavior are not acceptable." "Perhaps it is time to stop buying records," Fielder-Civil said. Winehouse's father said a boycott would do little good. "It's all clutching at straws," Mitch Winehouse told the BBC. "Anybody with any drug experience will tell you . . . that the only way out of this is . . . not locking them up. At some point they are going to reach rock bottom . . . and at that point they will say, 'Listen, I don't want to do this anymore.' " (AP)© Copyright 2007 Globe Newspaper Company.
