Jerry Seinfeld is a well-known New York Knicks fan, but that didn't stop Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers from giving the funnyman a green team jersey yesterday. "Hopefully, we can convert him," Rivers told us. Seinfeld was in town at the AMC Loews Boston Common to promote his new animated flick, "Bee Movie," with directors Steve Hickner and Simon J. Smith when the Celtics contingent made the presentation. Seinfeld provides the voice of the film's star, Barry B. Benson, a bee who's disillusioned by his only career choice - making honey. "No knives, no stabbings, it's just a movie anyone can watch," Seinfeld said of "Bee Movie," which opens Nov. 2. Other stars lending their voices to the film include Renée Zellweger, Matthew Broderick, Chris Rock, and John Goodman.
A Cos for celebration
Bill Cosby was better late than never the other night. The comedian showed up at a book-signing at Borders Downtown Crossing more than an hour after the advertised 6 p.m. start time. But no harm. Cos, who was in town with
Alvin Poussaint to promote "Come on People: On the Path from Victims to Victors," was his usual charming self as he spoke about the new book and his vision for strengthening America.

Goldin in spotlight for controversial photo
Celebrated shutterbug
Nan Goldin, who snapped her first photos in Boston way back when, is snared in controversy in the United Kingdom. Police across the pond have seized a Goldin pic to investigate a possible breach of child pornography laws. The photo, titled "Klara and Edda Belly-Dancing," is owned by bespectacled British rocker
Elton John, an avid art collector whose archive includes pics by Man Ray, Richard Avedon,
Irving Penn, Diane Arbus, and Ansel Adams. (Goldin's photo of two naked girls was set to be exhibited at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, England.) A graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Goldin is famous for her explicit, documentary depictions of New York's gay subculture. The ICA owns nine of her works, including one called "Matt and Louis in the Tub Kissing, Cambridge, 1988." "Nan is a very influential American photographer and we're pleased she's in our permanent collection," said
Paul Bessire, the museum's deputy director.
Flying with 'Kite'
"The Kite Runner" screenwriter
David Benioff will be in town today for a cocktail party and a special screening of his movie to benefit the Nantucket Film Festival. And the word is that Benioff's lovely wife, actress
Amanda Peet (inset), was trying to clear her schedule to join him. The post-screening soiree will be hosted by Saint Aire Productions pooh-bah, actress
Christy Scott Cashman, at her Back Bay home. The guest list includes the head of the Massachusetts Film Office,
Nicholas Paleologos, the office's director of operations
Mary Chiochios, and
Steve Samuels, producer of "Michael Clayton" and "Running With Scissors."
Redstone honored
Shari Redstone , president of the Dedham-based National Amusements, will be presented with the humanitarian award at ShowEast, next month's showbiz extravaganza in Orlando. The convention is honoring Redstone because of her philanthropic work, much of which is in Boston. The daughter of
Viacom mogul
Sumner Redstone, Shari serves as a Dana-Farber Cancer Institute trustee and on the board of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. But don't count on dad being there for the big award. The two have been feuding in recent months over their business interests and corporate succession plans.
Dax is a-OK
Turns out that "Bachelor No. 2" star
Kate Hudson's family likes her new beau, comic actor
Dax Shepard. "I know him well," Kate's big brother
Oliver Hudson told Us magazine. "I love Dax. He's a very good guy." Shepard and Hudson have been spotted in Boston several times since production started last month on "Bachelor No. 2," which costars
Dane Cook and
Jason Biggs. Hudson was married to rocker
Chris Robinson and dated actor
Owen Wilson until May.
Simon sparkles
Ronni Simon only started making jewelry 18 months ago and already she's got a trunk show at Bloomingdale's at the Chestnut Hill Mall. (The show is today and tomorrow.) Ronni, the wife of photographer
Peter Simon and sister-in-law of singer
Carly Simon, uses semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, and wire to craft what she calls "wearable art." Yes, as a resident of Martha's Vineyard, Simon has a few celebrity customers, including Carly,
Ted Danson - he bought a piece for
Mary Steenburgen - and noted software publisher
Peter Norton. Says Ronni: "I'm kind of an overnight success."

Something fishy
When we think deep-sea fishing types, Mayor
Tom Menino doesn't immediately come to mind. But when Reebok's
Paul Foster bid on and won a fishing trip with Harvard prof
Charles Ogletree, Foster decided to bring along his wife,
Cecily, and her former boss, Menino. The crew went out from Menemsha the other day caught an impressive number of stripers, we're told.
