After 48 days behind bars, Kiefer Sutherland was released yesterday morning from a Glendale, Calif., jail. The actor left at 12:05 a.m., according to jail spokesman John Balian. Sutherland, 41, served his entire sentence for a second DUI conviction and for violating probation. He spent his birthday, Christmas, and New Year's at the Los Angeles-area facility. The actor was also sentenced to five years probation and must complete an 18-month alcohol education program and attend weekly therapy sessions for six months. (People.com)

Writer-director Brad Bird's "Ratatouille" and the Irish romance "Once" took top honors in the ninth annual Golden Tomato Awards, which pay tribute to the best-reviewed films of the previous year as determined by the website rottentomatoes.com. The website compiles reviews from print, online, and broadcast film critics to measure the percentage of favorable critiques. The animated "Ratatouille," earned a 96 percent ranking on the site's Tomatometer. "Once," which won for best limited release film and best musical, scored 98 percent. "Atonement" scored the Golden Tomato for romance. Matt Damon's "The Bourne Ultimatum" won in the action/adventure category, "Juno" was the best comedy, "No Country for Old Men" the best thriller, and "Away From Her" was named best drama. Actress Gwyneth Paltrow was recently hospitalized because she had "a little gastrointestinal situation" and not because of a rumored pregnancy, chef Mario Batali told Usmagazine .com. "It's now been straightened out," said Batali, who partners with the Academy Award-winning actress for a PBS cooking show. Paltrow was hospitalized last week. Witnesses saw her in a wheelchair being pushed by her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, sparking rumors the couple was expecting their third child. (New York Post)Razzie nominees
One year after being nominated for an Academy Award in "Dream Girls," Eddie Murphy finds himself nominated for several Golden Raspberry Awards, the annual prizes known as the Razzies that poke fun at the worst films and performances of the year. Murphy earned nominations as worst actor, worst supporting actor, worst supporting actress, and worst screen couple, all for his work in the comedy "Norbit." Lindsay Lohan netted multiple citations in nominations released yesterday, pulling down two nominations as worst actress and another as worst couple in the thriller "I Know Who Killed Me" (below) in which she played two characters with very different personalities.
