Surgery for Campbell
Naomi Campbell was hospitalized in Sao Paulo for the removal of a small cyst. The 37-year-old British supermodel was treated at Sirio Libanes Hospital. Dr. Jose Aristodemo Pinotti, a gynecologist, said Campbell underwent abdominal surgery. "I cannot reveal what Naomi had, nor how serious her condition was, but I can say I operated on her, that everything went smoothly, and that she is completely cured and walking in her room," Pinotti said yesterday. Writers vote yes
The Writers Guild of America says members have voted overwhelmingly to approve a new contract with Hollywood studios that increases payment for shows offered on the Internet. The guild says the deal was endorsed by 93.6 percent of those who voted in Los Angeles and New York. The contract was approved after members were briefed on the deal that ended the 100-day strike. Under the contract, writers will get a maximum flat fee of about $1,200 for programs streamed on the Internet during the deal's first two years and then get 2 percent of a distributor's gross in year three. Maxim: We're sorry
Maxim magazine has apologized for publishing a negative review of the Black Crowes' new album by a writer who hadn't listened to the whole CD. The review in Maxim's March issue gives the Crowes' "Warpaint" a rating of 2 1/2 stars out of 5. The band posted a statement on its website last week saying the Maxim writer hadn't heard the entire album because advance copies weren't available. (AP)Face time
