Leonardo DiCaprio was in Hong Kong yesterday for the premiere of "The 11th Hour," a documentary about the environment that he co-wrote with director Nadia Conners. DiCaprio, who also narrates the film, is due back in the Boston area to continue working on director Martin Scorsese's "Ashecliffe," an adaptation of Dennis Lehane's novel "Shutter Island."

Fey joins ‘Side’ cast

"30 Rock" star and executive producer Tina Fey and "For Your Consideration" director/writer Christopher Guest have joined "This Side of the Truth," Ricky Gervais's movie that is expected to film in Haverhill in May. They join a cast that includes Jennifer Garner, Rob Lowe, Jeffrey Tambor, Jonah Hill, and John Hodgman for the comedy about a world where no one has ever lied.

'24' producer willing to go underground
As a veteran producer and director with credits including "24" and "Twin Peaks," Tony Krantz has given a lot of thought to what works in the mainstream and what's considered too "out there." So when he was asked to bring his indie flick "Otis" to the Boston Underground Film Festival as the closing film last night at the Brattle Theatre, he wasn't too worried. "I just want to show the film to people who want to see it," said Krantz of the black comedy that stars Illeana Douglas and Kevin Pollak. "There used to be that thought that if a film was an independent film or underground it wouldn't be commercial. That's not the case anymore," said Krantz, who also screened the pic at the South By Southwest Film Festival and will release it on DVD this June. As for his work as an executive producer on "24," Krantz said things are back on track after the writers' strike. "That's another project that was thought to be unusual. People said don't go with a ticking clock," he said. "I guess they were wrong about that too."

DeVito eyes 'The Cure'
Danny DeVito was holding court Saturday afternoon at Chris Damian's Tavern on the Water in Charlestown. Among the projects DeVito's got going is the movie version of "The Cure" based on former Globe reporter Geeta Anand's book about a young Boston dad, John Crowley, who finds out his kids have Pompe disease. Anand, a medical and health reporter for The Wall Street Journal, wrote about how Crowley, who got his MBA at Harvard, raised $100 million to challenge the medical establishment to find a cure for his son and daughter.

Dreams come true
Boston-based film and TV composer and musician Brad Hatfield can barely believe his luck. He finally got to play with jazz piano legend Marian McPartland - something he called a "lifelong dream." And his music is featured in "Finding Amanda," a film that just happens to be written and directed by his brother-in-law, Scituate native Peter Tolan. The movie, which stars Brittany Snow and Matthew Broderick, will have its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival next month. "Sometimes in this business it looks like you don't have anything going," Hatfield told us. "And then it all moves at once." Tolan, who is back at work on the TV show "Rescue Me," didn't just hire a family member, he wrote the lyrics for the movie's big number. "I don't want to give too much away, but there's a song - Peter wrote all the words - for a scene in Vegas," Hatfield said. "It's like a Nelson Riddle-style big piece that comes at a very funny part of the movie."

Wang: Sew and tell
The most expensive dress Vera Wang ever created was a wedding dress for Jennifer Lopez's canceled wedding to Ben Affleck. United Press International reports that the famed designer spills the beans on the dress that wasn't worn to Michael Eisner for a segment on his CNBC show that's set to air tonight. "Probably the most expensive dress I have ever done was a dress that actually didn't get worn at the wedding but was [designed during] Jennifer Lopez's first engagement," UPI quotes Wang telling Eisner. "Engagement, wow, it's really - her - yes, it was her engagement to Ben Affleck." Wang was mum on the price but said it was a complicated design that had 18 tiers, which made it more expensive. Wang apparently didn't harbor any ill will toward Lopez because Lopez wore one of Wang's designs when she married Marc Anthony.

Fans in posh places
Seems Patriots QB Tom Brady has a big fan in tiny Romeo Beckham. The 5-year-old son of soccer superstar David Beckham spent Saturday afternoon shopping with his mom, Victoria, and her pal Eva Longoria Parker in Beverly Hills. Romeo was spotted wearing a blue No. 12 Patriots jersey.

Ferraro to speak in Hub
Former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro will be in Boston on May 2 to speak about her battle with multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer. After her speech at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Reaching for a Cure gala, Ferraro will be honored for her work in finding a cure for the disease.
