Ashton Kutcher will never play wife Demi Moore's on screen love interest.

The 'What Happens in Vegas' actor says the couple would not be able to portray lovers in a film, because viewers would not be able to separate their characters from their "soap opera" real lives.

He said: "Demi and I were both in the movie 'Bobby'. I would do another movie with her, but only as long as the characters aren't interacting at all. That wouldn't work because there's a lot of tabloid press, sort of a soap opera that plays out in our lives unwillingly, and people believe that soap opera and believe it daily.

"I think it would be hard for people to disconnect from that soap opera with a film because it's so bred into them by tabloid magazines."

Ashton may be wise to avoid playing Demi's on screen partner.

In 2003, former couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, who were engaged at the time, came in for widespread criticism after portraying a couple in flop movie 'Gigli'.

Prior to their 2001 divorce, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman left critics unimpressed with their on screen chemistry after appearing as a married couple in 1999 film 'Eyes Wide Shut'.
