An honor like no other
Who needs an Oscar when you've got the "Guy Choice" awards? Matt Damon made us proud over the weekend when he won two of the silly Spike TV statuettes. The Cambridge-bred actor was voted "Guy of the Year" - the award was presented on bended knee by Jack Black (above right) - and his portrayal of assassin Jason Bourne earned him "Best Ass Kicker" bragging rights. Also bringing home some hardware were goofballs-made-good Bobby and Peter Farrelly, whose film "There's Something About Mary" was inducted into the "Guy Movie Hall of Fame."
'Sex' tops box office
Sarah Jessica Parker and her pals put up a big number at the box office on the opening weekend of the big-screen "Sex and the City." Parker and TV costars Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon strutted to a $55.7 million opening weekend, exceeding Hollywood's expectations for the film. Analysts had figured "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" might stay atop the box office heap, but it slipped to second place with $46 million in its second weekend. "Indiana Jones" raised its 11-day domestic total to $216.9 million. "Sex and the City" had the best debut ever for an R-rated comedy, topping the $45.1 million opening of "American Pie 2." (AP)
Tour postponed
Pregnant with her first child, Ashlee Simpson has postponed her summer tour. "She is committed to giving her fans the best show possible, and will be back better than ever and ready to rock in the future," her rep said over the weekend. Last week, the 23-year-old confirmed that she and husband Pete Wentz are expecting. (AP)
Sheen's wedding
Hoping perhaps that three times will be a charm, Charlie Sheen has gotten hitched yet again, this time to Brooke Mueller. The couple wed in a small ceremony in Beverly Hills Friday night. Guests included Charlie Sheen's father, Martin Sheen, and brother Emilio Estevez, as well as Eric Dane and his wife, Rebecca Gayheart. Sheen's daughters Sam, 4, and Lola, 3, with ex-wife Denise Richards were flower girls. Richards did not attend. The wedding was held at a home in a gated community where Eddie Murphy, Rod Stewart, and Sylvester Stallone live. The couple got engaged last summer, when Sheen, 42, proposed with a $500,000 ring on a Costa Rican beach. This is the first marriage for Mueller, 30, a real estate agent and former actress. Stars join forces
Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, and some of their famous friends attended the Butterfly Ball fund-raiser benefiting Chrysalis, a Los Angeles-based organization that helps homeless men and women find jobs and homes. "We love it, and we really believe in it," Moore said before Saturday's event, which was also attended by Topher Grace and Mila Kunis, two of Kutcher's castmates on "That '70s Show." The casts of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice" were also out en masse. Among them: Katherine Heigl, Kate Walsh, Tim Daly, and Eric Dane. (AP)
