Ruling in R. Kelly trial
A Chicago Sun-Times reporter refused to answer questions yesterday at R. Kelly's child pornography trial. Jim DeRogatis cited an Illinois law that governs reporters' rights and the First and Fifth Amendments of the US Constitution in refusing to answer questions yesterday. Judge Vincent Gaughan ruled that DeRogatis doesn't have to testify. (AP)

Sharon Stone shunned in Shanghai
The Shanghai International Film Festival said that Sharon Stone was not welcome at this year's event. The actress provoked outrage in China after suggesting the recent earthquake in Sichuan province may have been the result of bad "karma" because of Beijing's rule in Tibet. (AP)

Yes cancels tour
The classic rock band Yes has canceled its 40th anniversary tour following frontman Jon Anderson's severe asthma attack last month. The 63-year-old singer, who's since been diagnosed with acute respiratory failure, was ordered by doctors last weekend to rest for at least six months. (AP)

Actor charged
Officials in Los Angeles yesterday charged "Law & Order" actor Dennis Farina with three misdemeanor counts of carrying a loaded weapon stemming from his May arrest by airport security on his way to board a plane. He faces up to 2 1/2 years in jail and $3,000 in fines if convicted. Farina is due to be arraigned today. (Reuters)
