Angelina Jolie gave birth to her twins with pipe music playing in the background.

The 'Wanted' actress - who welcomed Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline into the world on July 12 - also requested a CD of bird noises and running water to ensure the delivery room was calm and peaceful.

A source said: "The birth took about an hour. There was soothing sounds of running water, birds, Buddhist chants and reed pipe music playing in the background. The whole thing was filmed too."

Angelina also asked her partner Brad Pitt and her brother James Haven to stay in her hospital room the night before she went into labour.

The source added: "During the birth, Brad held Angelina's hand and kept telling her, 'You are doing great baby!'

"By the time the twins were born, tears of happiness and emotion were on the faces of both parents!"
