Pats pass rusher Jarvis Green (above left) didn't look the least bit scary as he entertained 300 Brockton boys and girls at Network Health's Halloween party.

Oh, the places they go

Celtics stars Ray Allen, Eddie House, Gabe Pruitt, and Patrick O'Bryant - and rookie J.R. Giddens - donned Dr. Seuss hats and joined Mayor Tom Menino in reading to kids from the Wang YMCA at City Hall yesterday. The Halloween party, in which the players pushed the importance of reading, is part of the NBA's Read to Achieve program.

Showing support
Four years ago, filmmaker Errol Morris created TV spots for John Kerry featuring so-called swing voters. Well, the Oscar-winning director has done it again, this time for Barack Obama, but something's different. "Last time, there were a lot of really angry people, Republicans who felt betrayed by Bush," says Morris, who lives in Cambridge. "But this year, they're voting for someone, not against someone." Morris is under no illusion that the ads, which can be viewed at www.peopleinthemiddlefor obama.org, will make much of a difference. But he thinks they're important. "You do what you do not because the result is guaranteed, but because it's possible it might help," he said. Morris, whose last film, "Standard Operating Procedure," was about the events at Abu Ghraib, told us he's at work on his first feature film in years. Called "Barstow, Texas," it's being produced by Laura Ziskin and written by the two-time Oscar winner Alvin Sargent. "The last film was so hard, I just couldn't do another one with interviews," said Morris.

Bridget heading to Hub
Tom Brady's ex Bridget Moynahan was out and about in LA the other night, posing for a few photos with jewelry designer Neil Lane (inset, with Moynahan) at the opening of his flagship store at Melrose Place. Moynahan is due in Boston in December to shoot the pilot for the prospective TNT series "Bunker Hill." The "I, Robot" actress will costar with Donnie Wahlberg in the drama about crime, corruption, and cops.

G.I. George
PR giant George Regan was so determined to get word of his trip to Poland in the newspaper that he rang us up from eastern Europe himself yesterday, and then had three of his employees e-mail us more information. The trip, organized by the Anti-Defamation League, includes ADL Director Abe Foxman, Boston attorney Jim Rudolph, Davio's owner Steve DiFillippo, and 200 Israeli military officers. In their separate e-mails, both Regan underlings noted, with discernible glee, that the boss is being forced to eat the same C-rations as the Israeli army.

Bad boy and bigwigs
Aerosmith's Steven Tyler was the center of attention at Rogerson Communities's annual fund-raiser at the Mandarin Oriental the other night. The event, supporting the nonprofit's housing and health programs, was cochaired by bigwigs Jack Connors, John Fish, and Tom Glynn, and honored Sovereign Bank CEO Joe Campanelli and wife Carolyn (above, with Tyler) for their continued support. Guests included Tufts Medical Center CEO Ellen Zane, NSTAR's Tom May, restaurateur Darryl Settles, developer Steve Weiner, Home for Little Wanderers CEO Joan Wallace-Benjamin, and WBUR GM Paul LaCamera.

In the pink
Megan Mac of Danvers managed to dance off with first prize in an Elle Woods look-a-like contest at Faneuil Hall yesterday. The platinum blonde won VIP tickets to "Legally Blonde, the Musical" at the Opera House and dinner at Cheers.

Jackson a no-show
Fans who bought tickets to Janet Jackson's canceled Oct. 11 show at Mohegan Sun are being told to seek a refund from their vendor; those who bought from ticketmaster.com will get an automatic refund.
