Ted Koppel and his documentary team are taking a buyout from the Discovery Channel six months before their contracts expire. Both sides said it was clear there was no interest in continuing to work together. (AP)

Singer hospitalized
Amy Winehouse is being treated at the London Clinic following a reaction to medication. Spokesman Chris Goodman said Winehouse was admitted on Sunday. He declined to identify the medication that caused the reaction. The 25-year-old Grammy winner has a history of drug problems and has been in and out of hospitals this year. (AP)

Updike, who has a long and graphic history of detailing coupling on the page, won a lifetime achievement award yesterday from judges of Britain's Bad Sex in Fiction Prize, which celebrates crude, tasteless, or ridiculous sexual passages in modern literature.
