Confirming something most media watchers already knew, NBC News yesterday announced that David Gregory is the new moderator of "Meet the Press," the network's Sunday morning political discussion program. NBC used President-elect Barack Obama's appearance yesterday to name Gregory, who'll start next week. (AP)

Calling it quits
Actress Ginnifer Goodwin, a BU grad, and actor Chris Klein have split after more than two years together, People.com reported yesterday.

'Four' times two
"Four Christmases," a comedy starring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn, topped the box office for a second weekend, taking in $18.2 million at US and Canadian theaters. The vampire romance "Twilight" rose to second from third last week with $13.2 million. The animated "Bolt," featuring the voices of John Travolta and Miley Cyrus, was third with $9.7 million. "Australia," Baz Luhrmann's $125 million epic, finished fourth, earning $7 million. New Releases "Punisher: War Zone" and "Cadillac Records" finished eighth and ninth, respectively. (AP)
