They're hardly BFFs, we're told, but Gisele Bundchen and Kate Moss were apparently able to set aside their super-sized egos long enough to shoot a sizzling Versace ad for the designer's spring/summer '09 campaign. (This isn't the first time Tom Brady's sweetheart has worked with the batty British model - they both shilled for Gloria Vanderbilt jeans a few years back.) The Versace campaign, shot by famed fashion photographer Mario Testino, features the world-famous femmes in slinky white cocktail dresses. There's a good chance the pretty pair will also appear together at this year's May 4 gala at the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. (Brady's attended the event a few times - twice with Bundchen and once with his ex Bridget Moynahan.) The 2009 exhibition is titled "The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion," and Bundchen and Moss are two of the iconic models featured.

Ifill book not full of surprises

A galley of Gwen Ifill's book about Barack Obama and other prominent black politicians finally landed on our desk, and we're wondering what all the fuss was about. Some Republicans, you'll recall, felt Ifill shouldn't be allowed to moderate a presidential debate between Obama and John McCain because she was working on the book. But "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama" is, if not ho-hum, certainly straightforward, with chapters on Alabama Representative Artur Davis, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, and our own Governor Deval Patrick. One tidbit: Recalling the controversy over Patrick's decision to replace Mitt Romney's Ford Crown Vic with a new Cadillac DeVille DTS, the governor's wife, Diane, takes issue with the Boston Herald for calling the car "tricked-out." The first spouse says the description is "frankly racist. . . . It didn't have boom boxes, speakers on the outside, but they called it tricked-out." Ifill, by the way, once worked for the Herald.

Wall supports Dyett

Longtime radio host Lovell Dyett lost his gig with WBZ-AM last week, but pastor Bruce Wall is doing everything he can to raise a ruckus over the layoff. The Global Ministries Christian Church leader e-mailed a letter to friends and supporters for signatures yesterday, calling for the station to reinstate Dyett, based on his popularity and decades of loyal service. Wall planned to send the letter to program director Peter Casey yesterday. "He's mentored thousands of people across the country," said Wall, who said Dyett helped him break into radio a few years ago. The pastor said Dyett has health issues, and he'd hoped the station would allow him to work as long as he could, as it did with the late David Brudnoy and Paul Sullivan, who worked throughout long illnesses. "I thought, 'He's going to be safe here,' " he said. "I was shocked." Wall declined to elaborate on Dyett's health condition. Casey also declined to comment yesterday and general manager Ted Jordan did not return calls seeking comment.

Shonda pitches a film

Shonda Schilling makes her feature film debut in "Bride Wars," and to celebrate the occasion she and Boston casting director Jodi Purdy-Quinlan are hosting a screening party tomorrow with family and friends. We're told Curt's wife has invited 250 family, friends, and fellow extras to the screening at the Showcase Cinema at Patriot Place. Starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, "Bride Wars" was filmed in Boston last spring. Jacoby Ellsbury's girlfriend, Kelsey Hawkins, and several Sox spouses were also extras in the film, including Alex Cora's wife, Nilda, J.D. Drew's wife, Sheigh, Javier Lopez's wife, Renee, Dave Magadan's wife, Monique, Jonathan Papelbon's wife, Ashley, Dustin Pedroia's wife, Kelli, Tim Wakefield's wife, Stacey, and Juliana Ramirez, wife of former Red Sox player Manny.

On a roll before the rock

Sox GM Theo Epstein and Peter Gammons ditched work for a while yesterday to tour the Home for Little Wanderers, a beneficiary of this year's Hot Stove Cool Music fund-raiser. The midwinter melee at the Paradise takes place Saturday, featuring old faves Letters to Cleo, Buffalo Tom's Bill Janovitz, American Hi-Fi, and assorted surprises. Earlier Saturday, Epstein and Gammons will be talking baseball with an all-star cast, including MVP Dustin Pedroia, Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia, Angels center fielder Torii Hunter, Sox skipper Terry Francona, and MLB.com analyst Harold Reynolds.

Walker facing charges in Miami

Don't expect Antoine Walker to catch on with another NBA franchise any time soon. The former Celtics forward, who last played for the Memphis Grizzlies, was charged yesterday with suspicion of drunken driving in Miami Beach after police spotted him driving a black Mercedes without the lights on at 5:39 a.m. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol and reported that Walker had a sleepy look on his face. He refused a breathalyzer test. A three-time All-Star for the C's, Walker, 32, helped the Miami Heat win the NBA championship in 2006. In July 2007, he and a relative were bound at gunpoint while robbers took a car, cash, and jewelry from his suburban Chicago home.

Bang Camaro on 'Late Night'

We hear Bryn Bennett and Alex Necochea will lead their hard rockin', guitar-wielding choir - Bang Camaro - onto "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" tonight. The band's new CD, "Bang Camaro II," will be distributed nationwide on Jan. 13. And it's looking for new members. "We're looking for some new blood to sing with us," reads a message on its website. "We have a tour coming up and may need you. Contact Bryn if you think you have what it takes."

Wahlberg's woes

What is it with Mark Wahlberg relieving himself in public? In late November, the grouchy-looking actor was snapped by the paparazzi doing his business on a wall in Venice, Calif. Last week he was at it again, hitting the bushes at a California golf course. Is he just going through a "Big Daddy" phase?

Youk in a giving mood

Kevin Youkilis was a busy man yesterday. The first baseman and his new wife, Enza, unveiled a new computer center at the Nativity Preparatory School in Jamaica Plain. He also dropped off toys and turkeys at the school and at the nearby Italian Home for Children; the charity blitz was a joint effort with Bain Capital, Hollister, HighRoads, and Stop & Shop.
