Peter Gabriel's minute in the Oscars spotlight will lack one important element: Peter Gabriel. The Oscar-nominated singer won't perform at the Feb. 22 ceremony to protest an apparently revamped presentation of best original song contenders. Gabriel says in a video on his website that he objects to the songs being shortened to 65 seconds apiece and made part of a medley. Gabriel is nominated alongside Thomas Newman for "Down to Earth" from "WALL-E." The British musician says he'll still attend the Oscars but is hoping a gospel choir will stand in for him onstage. Lindsay's favorites
Lindsay Lohan always has a front-row seat at the Charlotte Ronson show. The 22-year-old actress arrived in style for yesterday's presentation of girlfriend Samantha Ronson's sister's fall collection at New York Fashion Week. "Her clothes are really feminine, and they're becoming more formfitting as each season goes on," Lohan said. (AP)

A new Cohen CD
Leonard Cohen will release his first new album in five years next month. "Live in London," out March 31, was culled from the singer-songwriter's performance last July 17 at London's 02 Arena. The 26-track album - which will be released as a two-CD set and a DVD - includes Cohen classics such as "If It Be Your Will," "I'm Your Man," and "Hallelujah." (BILLBOARD)
