To them, she's all aces

Peter Palandjian's daughters Madelon and Margot hit a few tennis balls with Anna Kournikova while the tennis star was in town Saturday to compete in Champions Cup Boston. (Palandjian, CEO of Intercontinental Real Estate, is a former tennis pro.) We're told the girls were thrilled to rally with Kournikova, but Margot is an even bigger fan of Anna's longtime beau Enrique Iglesias, and hoped to get the inside scoop on the singer.

To many, Shepard Fairey's arrest was an embarrassment. To some, it was the BPD's proudest moment. To Sean Stevens and Peter Berdovsky, it was deja vu all over again. Stevens and Berdovsky are the two Charlestown artists busted in 2007 for planting blinking circuit boards as part of a guerrilla marketing campaign for the "Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters." (The police thought the LED placards were bombs and, as a precaution, shut down part of I-93.) Fairey, of course, is the celebrated street artist who was collared by cops as he was on his way to a party celebrating his show at the Institute of Contemporary Art. (His cab was pulled over and he was ordered to get out.) "I'm not a big fan of graffiti, but that was like spitting in the eye of the artist," said Stevens. "It was unnecessary and insulting." Berdovsky, who now goes by the name Zebbler, said he was not surprised by the arrest. "I went through a similar situation," he said. "But it's kind of funny in this case because (Fairey) got a good reception from (Mayor Tom Menino) and there's a huge banner at City Hall." Stevens and Berdovsky, by the way, have completed their community service at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

While pitchers and catchers were in Fort Myers, the BoSox brass were at Foxwoods Saturday celebrating Ed Kane's 41st birthday. The owner of Shrine at the MGM Grand threw himself a Valentine's Day bash, and guests included Sox owner John Henry and his fiancee Linda Pizzuti, CEO Larry Lucchino and wife Stacey, vice chairman David Ginsberg, J. Geils frontman Peter Wolf, chef Michael Schlow, the Lyons Group's Ed Sparks, Shag owner Sandy Poirier, and Kane's brother and business partners Joe Kane, Randy Greenstein, Alex Zecca, and Doc Green. Stopping by after his show at the MGM Grand Theater was Kid Rock, who cozied up to his ex, Victoria's Secret model May Anderson. Bringing the noise behind the turntables was Lenny Kravitz's cousin, DJ Ruckus.

If the Dave Matthews Band is going to play Fenway this summer, it'll be sooner rather than later, we're told. Perhaps not certain that DMB can sell out two nights in July or August, promoter Live Nation is considering scheduling the shows in May, before all those crazy college kids head out of town. (The Sox are on the road the last week of May.) And if a deal can't be worked out? We hear there is interest in bringing the Who to the ballpark. So what if only Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend remain from the original lineup, the band packed a wallop at their TD Banknorth gig last fall.

Holden's Melissa Rayla had just walked backstage to meet the cast of "Rent" when her boyfriend, Worcester electrician Kristian Hansen, dropped to one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Hansen had been planning this moment since Christmas, when he bought the tickets to the Valentine's Day show at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. "I cried," Rayla said by phone yesterday. "It was unbelievable, the best day of my life . . . I don't think the wedding could top this." The couple plan to get hitched on the Cape - and to see "Rent" when it's Boston later this year.

No kicks for Cudi
Sneakers are serious business, as Kid Cudi can attest. The rapper was due to perform at Reebok's party in Phoenix during the NBA All-Star game this weekend, but there was one problem: Cudi showed up wearing Jordans, a Nike product. Reebok employees didn't appreciate the slight, and apparently let the hip-hopper know. According to HipHopDX.com, a confrontation ensued and Cudi was tasered. A rep for the Canton-based apparel company didn't return our e-mail seeking comment yesterday. Celts Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen were in Phoenix for the game, but there's no word if they were at the Reebok party.

'Samurai'
Playmate Playboy Playmate Shannon James, who's familiar to fans of Howard Stern, dropped by McFadden's the other night to hype the new video game Afro Samurai. Not that they needed a lot of help, but gamers got in the spirit by donning silly synthetic wigs. . . . His duties done at 'GBH, "Masterpiece Mystery!" host Alan Cumming dined at Mistral the other night, as did KISS 108's Matt Siegel, and TV types Mike Macklin and Frances Rivera.

The word on Tyler bio? It's in the works.
While his band's been on hiatus, Steven Tyler has managed to stay busy. We're told the Aerosmith singer is hard at work on his memoir. (You'll recall that Ecco, an imprint of HarperCollins, bid more than $2 million for the rights.) As you might expect, Tyler isn't doing the typing himself. A source close to the screamer tells us that David Dalton is ghost writing Tyler's tell-all. Not exactly a newcomer to rock writing, Dalton's authored well-received books about Janis Joplin, James Dean, and Jim Morrison, and countless articles about Marianne Faithfull, The Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan. Apparently, a draft of the book is due in June.
