Joaquin Phoenix jumped off the stage during a performance at a nightclub in Miami Beach early yesterday and confronted an audience member who was heckling him. Security guards dragged him back on stage and escorted him away. It's unknown whether the confrontation - and his pledge to quit acting and start rapping - was real or a put-on, but actor Casey Affleck recorded it on camera. Last month Phoenix made a strange appearance on David Letterman's "Late Show." (AP)

One for the fans
A Tennessee marketing firm is giving nearly 1,000 fans of pop singer Miley Cyrus free four-month extensions to their online fan club memberships in a deceptive practices settlement with the state attorney general's office. Hundreds of Pennsylvanians complained to the AG when they couldn't buy tickets during fan club pre-sales for Hannah Montana concerts in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The pre-sales were advertised as a perk of joining Cyrus's website for a $29.95 yearly fee, and continued to be offered even after blocks of tickets reserved for pre-sales were sold out. (AP)

J.Lo named in suit
A North Carolina woman has sued Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda, and others associated with the 2005 movie "Monster-in-Law." Sheri Gilbert of Wilson, N.C., says the movie is similar to a script she wrote in 1998. She and her husband, Willie Gilbert Jr., say they are owed some of the almost $155 million the movie made. A lawyer representing Warner Bros. and 33 other defendants said the "mother-in-law" character is not unusual and has asked that the lawsuit be dismissed. (AP)

Jackson adds 35 gigs
Michael Jackson has added 35 concerts to his concert series at London's O2 Arena. The run of 45 shows will now stretch from July 8 to Sept. 29 and from Jan. 7 to Feb. 12. (BILLBOARD)
